    I’m glad Cyrelian got his mead, and a nice hot soup and shower.

    I liked the introduction of Ahtar – Cyr’s little awkward mannerisms as he’s sized up by the big scary Redguard, who seems completely nonplussed but y’know…we know otherwise. 😉

    (Also, just a quick nitpick – you used “revulsion” twice in quick succession when Cyr brings the meat plate over. Might want to change one of those up, imo. Other than that, it’s spot on.)

    I especially liked the kitchen screenshots here. Given that much of Solitude seem to have a disregard for kitchens (hello, vanilla Proudspire Manor), it was a good touch. You always capture perfectly the parts of Skyrim that aren’t shown in the vanilla game, not just with set choice but with your descriptions.

    “I will spare a description of the situation in the Winking Skeever privies, which were less well kept than the baths.”

    This line is just wonderfully on-brand Cyr. He’s almost British in his properness – definitely has a lot of the stiff upper lip thing going, along with a healthy dose of self deprecation. Perhaps that’s why I like him so much, haha.

    It’s funny that you mentioned the Stormcloak Officer boots, because I’d briefly noticed them but hadn’t thought too much about it, even on my second readthrough. Should’ve realised the heavy foreshadowing/symbolism! That was a great touch. I’m liking the tension you’re building in this chapter a lot with Roggvir’s execution too.

    The scene with Caelestis was just excellent; filled with quintessentially snappy Cyr one-liners and deadpan observations at the praefect’s complete lack of tact and decorum. Read the room, Caelestis. Also love how “Daedra and some shit” gets called back to, lol.

    Jala – yep, you’ve described her perfectly. I have to admit, I was never a fan in-game, but your story has made me like her a lot. She’s an incorrigible gossip, and I liked her teasing Cyr mercilessly. Also, wonder who her “friend” who has a thing for elves is, hm? 😉

    The crown jewel in this chapter has to be the end with Gilgondoron, though – some of my favourite lines were “he is a pattern book of rectitude” and “Stalking-goat duty assignees generally burn out pretty quickly, but Gilgondoron is too stupid to do anything other than revel in his work.” Some first rate sass Cyr delivers to him, too. Admittedly, it’s fun to see smug, slightly arrogant Cyr come back out to play again – shows there’s still some fight left in him.

    Ah! I will fix that, for sure.

    Oh, gods, I had forgotten about Gilgondoron– he’ll be back, though. Going to be tricky as he is not a vanilla-voiced follower, so kidnapping him will not work with my usual mods. I may have to repeatedly spawn him where I need him, lol.

    Also I took off his hood once and he is hot a.f. Doesn’t make up for his repellent personality, though.

    The kitchen screenshots were a couple of different mods; mainly the inn you encounter on the road to Bruma in Beyond Skyrim: Bruma. There’s also a bit from InnCredible, from the inn at Dragon Bridge.

    Sadly I believe Praefect Caelestis may have been transferred out, lol.

    I once spent days redecorating Proudspire Manor to have an excellent kitchen and dining area– but then lost all of the screenshots in a minor modding disaster. Oh, well.

    I do love Jala; sadly, she is no longer central. I’m going to have to give her some thought.
